The Gitchie Manitou Massacre

Friday Feb 27, 2026

Friday Feb 27, 2026

This week on Lipgloss & Lobotomies, we’re diving into a scent of death… and a night of pure terror.
First up: putrescine — the chemical compound released when a body decomposes. Sweet, sickly, unforgettable. It’s the smell investigators know too well, the odor that clings to crime scenes, and one of the most haunting sensory details in forensic science. We’re breaking down what it is, why our brains react so strongly to it, and how science turns something so grotesque into crucial evidence.
Then we head to the quiet woods of Gitchie Manitou State Preserve for one of the Midwest’s most horrifying crimes — the Gitchie Manitou Massacre. In 1973, five teenagers set out for a summer night under the stars. Only one survived. We’ll walk through the timeline, the investigation, and the trauma that rippled through both Iowa and South Dakota after that brutal attack.
It’s science. It’s survival. It’s one of the most chilling true crime cases you may have never heard of.
Grab your gloss, steady your stomach, and let’s get into it. 💄🖤

Friday Feb 20, 2026

This week on Lipgloss & Lobotomies, we’re stepping into a house where eight people went to sleep… and never woke up.
In 1912, the small town of Villisca became the scene of one of America’s most haunting unsolved crimes: the Villisca Axe Murder House. An entire family — along with two young houseguests — brutally murdered in the middle of the night. The killer was never caught. And more than a century later, people say the house is anything but empty.
Then we’re turning up the heat — literally.
We’re diving into the disturbing production secrets behind The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The 1974 horror classic felt terrifyingly real… because parts of it were. From sweltering Texas conditions to real animal bones, authentic skeletons, and actual roadkill used on set, the line between fiction and reality was thinner than anyone realized. What’s fact? What’s legend? And why does knowing the truth make the movie even harder to stomach?
An unsolved massacre. A house that won’t rest. And a horror film that blurred the boundaries of death and cinema.
Grab your gloss. Lock your doors. And maybe… don’t answer the knock. 🔪✨

Friday Feb 13, 2026

This week we’re asking the real question:
Is he a green flag… or is he about to summon a demon in the basement? 👀🔪
We’re breaking down the husbands, boyfriends, and significant others of horror, sci-fi, and supernatural films and TV — from “he’d fight a ghost for you” energy to “why does he own that many locked trunks?” behavior.
Who’s protective vs. possessive?Who’s emotionally available vs. emotionally… possessed? And how many red flags does it take before we’re running barefoot into the woods?
It’s spooky. It’s spicy. It’s slightly unhinged.
Because nothing says romance like surviving the apocalypse together. 🖤✨

The Delphi Murders

Friday Feb 06, 2026

Friday Feb 06, 2026

Crows never forget.Scientists say these highly intelligent birds can recognize human faces, remember harm for years, and even pass grudges down through generations. But what does it mean when memory becomes survival?
In this episode, we explore the eerie science behind crows and their long memories before turning to the heartbreaking 2017 murders of Liberty German and Abigail Williams in Delphi, Indiana. We walk through the timeline, the investigation, and the long road toward justice — centering the lives of Abby and Libby, not the spectacle surrounding the case.
This is a story about remembrance, accountability, and the weight of what should never be forgotten.
Trigger Warning: Discussion of violence against children and murder.

In this episode, we unravel two unsettling American mysteries rooted in very real places. First, we head to Aurora, Texas, where in 1897 a strange craft reportedly fell from the sky—leaving behind wreckage, a mysterious pilot, and one of the earliest UFO stories in U.S. history. Then, we shift to Randolph County, Indiana, to explore the haunting legacy of the county asylum, where neglect, suffering, and whispered paranormal activity have turned documented history into enduring legend. From extraterrestrial encounters to institutional horror, this episode examines how unanswered questions and human tragedy continue to echo through time.

Friday Jan 23, 2026

This week on Lipgloss and Lobotomies, we kick things off in the uncanny world of modern cinema, unpacking Bugonia and Together—two films that explore paranoia, control, and the creeping fear that something isn’t quite right beneath the surface. From Emma Stone’s unsettling performance in Bugonia to the quiet, intimate dread of Together, we talk about why these stories linger and share our opinions no one asked for.
Then, we shift from fiction to a chilling real-life scandal buried in Chicago’s past. In the 1970s, graves were robbed and bodies were stolen—not for ritual, but for profit. We break down how human remains were illegally sold to medical facilities, the loopholes that allowed it to happen, and the families left without answers.
We close the episode with a case that still haunts the Midwest: the unsolved murder of Maria Ridulph. Decades later, her case raises painful questions about justice, memory, and how some truths refuse to stay buried.
From psychological horror to real-world atrocities, this episode confronts the uncomfortable line between exploitation and humanity—and what happens when the dead are treated as disposable.

Thomas Eugene Creech

Friday Jan 09, 2026

Friday Jan 09, 2026

In this episode, we dive into two unsettling stories that prove mystery and violence can exist worlds apart — yet feel eerily connected.
We begin in 1966 Brazil, where two electronics technicians, Manoel Pereira da Cruz and Miguel José Viana, were found dead on Morro do Vintém Hill. Their bodies were dressed in suits and raincoats, each wearing a strange lead mask designed to shield their eyes. Nearby, police discovered a notebook with cryptic instructions, including references to ingesting capsules and “protecting metals.” With no signs of violence and unanswered questions surrounding their deaths, the Led Masks Case remains one of Brazil’s most baffling unsolved mysteries. Was it a failed scientific experiment, a spiritual belief tied to radiation or communication with higher beings, or something far more sinister?
Then, we shift from the unexplained to the undeniably brutal with the story of Thomas Eugene Creech, an American serial killer whose crimes spanned decades. Already serving a life sentence, Creech murdered fellow inmate David Jensen in 1981, landing him on death row — where he would remain for over 40 years. We explore Creech’s violent past, his confessions to dozens of murders, and the psychological profile of a man who became a symbol of America’s most extreme punishment. His case forces us to confront difficult questions about justice, punishment, and whether redemption is ever possible.
